Ay time time flies and then it’s spring. Trying to soak in the cherry blossoms and more sunny times.
In March I spent some time in Philadelphia to take part in a work-in-progress performance piece about rocks, the Erie Canal, the Spiritualism movement, and historical hauntings with main ideator Shannon Brooks. I helped to create the score for the 45 minute long draft performance. I also moved in the first showing at Studio 34 in Philadelphia. Lots of layers and possibilities for moving forward.
Below are the flyer from the project and image of us in the act.
Wall Wymyn, my ongoing experimental sound project with Kate McGuire performed with The Gate and Embarker at the Laundrette on March 16th. It was a sweet time seeing both new and old faces.
These are all in the past, but one upcoming thing I am excited for is the upcoming show on April 2nd at Dirt Palace that I organized, featuring C. Lavender (NYC), Housefire, Final Object, and Extestines. Don’t miss out on the show, or another heavy hitter that night at Mayday (see Kai’s update) !!

Really disappointed that the tour was cut short due to COVID, but had an absolute blast nonetheless. So thankful for all the generosity of everyone in the road. Photo by Pain chain

GRANT NEWS ALERT GRANT NEWS STRAIGHT FROM THE PRESS RELEASEMilwaukee, WI — March 9, 2023 — Today, the Ruth Foundation for the Arts (Ruth Arts) is pleased to announce their newest program, Sites & Stewardship, a $1.5 Million initiative to provide grants to 15 non-profit arts organizations whose missions support the extraordinary aspects of an artist’s community, home, studio, archive, collection, or built environment. Thirteen organizations will receive one-year grants, with two organizations receiving multi-year support for major initiatives. Rooted in Foundation namesake Ruth DeYoung Kohler II’s longstanding appreciation of artist-built environments, Sites & Stewardship was specifically designed for a unique category of art organizations whose missions and artistic activities are rooted in a proximity to place. The inaugural list is comprised of artist-built environments, historic artist homes and studios, cultural sites, and organizations who intersect meaningfully with their physical location and the creative legacies they strive to uphold. In developing this invitation-only program, Ruth Arts sought initiatives that connected location to creativity, artist to community, and histories to futures, reflecting both the tangible and ephemeral qualities of these spaces.IT IS A TRUE HONOR TO BE IN THIS COHORT ********************************
