WINDOW CURRENT WINDOW ARTIST: HERNAN JOURDAN
WINDOW ON DISPLAY UNTIL END OF MAY!
Hernán Jourdan has completed film & video studies at the School of Tokyo Visual Arts (2008) and since then developed projects in Argentina, Chile, United States, Canada & France. MacColl Johnson Fellow for creative writing (2021) by the Rhode Island Foundation. Scholarship recipient of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (文部科学省 / Monbukagakusho). In residence at Cité Internationale Des Arts (2018) he started developing North by South , a literary experiment that chronicles his immigration journey from Buenos Aires to Providence, RI. The project has continued to grow thanks to Assets for Artists (2019) and a writer-in-residency program at the Studios at MassMoca (2021). He is a PGI grantee (2018-2019) of the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts ( RISCA ) to develop the Latinx queer platform Thank You For Listening . On this platform we host conversations and artistic expressions that manifest and celebrate our different identities as Latin Americans. TYFL has also been commissioned by the RISD Museum for the Assembly/Encuentro series. These are postcards from a continent. “North By South” is a literary experiment, a journey across South and North America made chronicles from a continent that feels connected but disjointed at the same time. It’s the experience of a queer hitchhiker and the collective consciousness he finds across diferent geographies. It’s bilingual travel literature with the confessions that a diary receives after suffering a family crisis. It’s a journal where borders made upon this land are questioned and so the nature of our e/migration journeys re-imagined. It is a map of routes across the Southern and Northern hemispheres and above all, a written exercise towards healing.

Hello Hello!!! This is my last digest :( After two beautiful years living at the Dirt Palace, I am moving. I am
staying in Providence with my partner, Avery and our cat, Thimble, so we'll be around and about all the
time. I can't even begin to express my immense gratitude to the Dirt Palace and all of the wonderful people
that have been a part of my time here. I will always treasure this time.
As a final little link for you all- my partner Avery and I have started a little press called Pine Street Press
where we are selling some of our work and being pretty silly- enjoy :) More things will be continually
added every month or so.
love to all :)
ELLEN (LN) FOSTER
Hello from me and this snail-hunting Limpkin that I scoped while visiting Gainesville recently.
This past Spring I've been helping out with the Providence-based Building Circles crew to put a second
story on a one story building. It has been a fantastic feat and I have been learning a lot along side amazing people like Vuthy and Yun-Yun (pictured below)!
I also took part helping to install a marquee (fabricated at a fine furniture woodshop I work at) on the
Wedding Cake House lawn. Check out my woodshop boss Shaun Bullens finishing the install touches.
Artistically, the past few months have been a bit of an internal time, doing a bit of collaging and seeing
where that takes me.
Upcoming for Providence, June 23rd I will be playing a duet with Anka at The Lost Bag, which will be at an exciting new location. June 22nd Anka and I will be DJing together at the disco skate night in downtown Providence, come through.

This is a yearly project. Prints from last year (image below) are now for sale for $35. (that is unless you
want to send me multiple things in the mail - one labeled "burn", one labeled "time".)
