January  2025  NEWSLETTER WCH OPEN HOUSE! This Monday! Jan 20th OPEN HOUSE! 4:30 - 6pm. Masked event, free and open to the public (No RSVP required) Meet our current artists in residence! Wander around the wedding cake house, eat some chips, go in the tower. The January Cohort are : Chloe Zimmerman, Dale Going, Leela Corman, OK Fox, Promiti Islam, Thalia Zedek, Xray Aims. Artist Presentations From 6-7pm we’ll have a short presentation from the January AIR. Seating is limited for this portion of the event. Artist in Residence Opening at DP Classic At any given time there are five "members" or Artists in Residence at the location in Olneyville Sq that we now refer to as “Dirt Palace Classic”. Together they have built and maintained studios and shared facilities that include: seven live/work artist in residence spaces, a library, a large shared kitchen, a print shop (specializing in screen print and letterpress), a music rehearsal space, a wood shop, an animation/film editing suite, and a workspace for large projects. Artist in resident openings at Dirt Palace Classic for April and June 1st. For how to Apply HERE Work/Exchange Artist Residency Open Call The Work/Exchange Artist in Residence opportunity at the Wedding Cake House is a 6-18 month engagement that provides housing, and a modest stipend in exchange for helping to support programs at the Wedding Cake House. Utilizing neon in his work, McKnight creates text-based sculptures using poetry and often common phrases. The word shelter is a public art poetry project on the Wedding Cake House lawn. The sign faces Broadway right next to the bus stop. Built by craftsman/ furniture designer Shaun Bullens, the word shelter displays messages crafted by a variety of poets, artists and wordsmiths all year! Currently exhibiting the work of first 2025 Word Shelter artist Muggs Fogarty.
